We ask that you call your health insurance company and inquire directly, prior to your initial appointment with either Dr. Frank Cushing or Dr. Kyle Cushing, as to what your specific "outpatient mental health benefits" are. These are usually stated in the form of a "copay" that may be a specific dollar amount ($20 per session, for example) or a percentage of the "usual and customary or allowable charge" (20%, for example). The patient is responsible for determining if their insurance plan pays a different amount based upon whether the doctor is "in network" or "out of network". This simply means, if a doctor is on a preferred provider list or insurance company "panel", the reimbursement may be higher than if the doctor does not have a contractual agreement with that insurance company.

Glenwood Center practice support staff will bill all health insurance plans provided that the patient or parent presents the insurance card to our business office. We strive to maximize insurance reimbursement and, through contracts with hundreds of insurance companies, often accept significant adjustments and discounts from many insurance carriers. However, it is the patient's responsibility for knowing what their mental health benefits are and whether or not any referral or preauthorization is needed prior to the provision of services.
We will bill the primary insurance first; once we have received payment or denial of coverage, the patient's secondary insurance will be billed. Once we have received payment or denial of coverage from your secondary insurance, any remaining balance will be the patient's responsibility.

Glenwood's reimbursement specialists are experienced and knowledgeable about billing procedure codes and diagnostic categories to ensure that patients obtain appropriate coverage for psychological services from their health care carriers.
If you are participating in a COURT ORDERED or Forensic Evaluation, the services may not be billed through insurance companies. Such services are court related services and may not be reimbursable under health care coverage as they are not "health related".

Our state-of-the-art computerized billing program allows for electronic billing to insurance companies to assist with quick turn around of your claims.
We recommend that the patient know and understand what their deductable is as that dollar amount usually must be met before the insurance company will begin paying their portion. Also, if the patient's insurance carrier requires any "precertification" of services, this usually must be obtained PRIOR to beginning the service or the company may deny the request for reimbursement. Patients must be aware that insurance companies are likely to be very strict in their intrepretations of their policies and it is in their best interest to deny coverage if every rule was not followed. For example, failure to obtain necessary precertification may result in denial of payments by the insurance company, and thus, become patient responsibility.

Patients may pay their account balance with cash, check, Check Visa, Mastercard, Visa or Discover.

Payment plans are available for those patients undergoing comprehensive psychological evaluations or testing that desire them. Feel free to discuss this with your Psychologist.
