Diane Cushing, RN, LCPC

Diane Cushing

Diane Cushing is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and also a Licensed Registered Nurse (RN). Mrs. Cushing has been in private practice since 1985, counseling children, adolescents and adults. She provides individual, family and couples psychotherapy. Her areas of expertise include marital counseling, depression, stress/anxiety reduction, parenting issues (e.g., dealing with difficult children), blended family issues, and women's issues.

As a psychotherapist with a nursing background, Mrs. Cushing has considerable life and professional experience to help women deal with, and adjust to, motherhood, menopause, weight loss, fibromyalgia and other medical issues such as insomnia, migraines, cancer, arthritis, IBS and chronic fatigue. She also has counseled men on issues involving depression, anxiety, anger management, work problems and relationship difficulty.

When working with people in counseling, Mrs. Cushing provides a warm, nonjudgmental and interactive environment so her clients can feel comfortable and secure. Her primary treatment approach is cognitive (behavioral) therapy. This approach focuses on a person's life experience and how their experiences have shaped the way they think about themselves and the world around them. Since thoughts are highly associated with emotions, the identification and modification of such thoughts often leads to an improved emotional outlook.
